The New York Jets have settled on their starting quarterback for the Week 17 game against the New England Patriots.
Jets head coach Aaron Glenn revealed on Monday that rookie quarterback Brady Cook will get another start.
"Coach Glenn said Brady Cook will be the starter in Week 17 against the Patriots," the Jets announced.
Cook got the nod in Week 16 with both Tyrod Taylor and Justin Fields banged up.
The undrafted rookie did show some flashes but wasn't great overall. He completed 22-of-35 passes for 188 yards while tossing one pick and zero touchdowns. The Jets ultimately lost to the New Orleans Saints, 29-6.
This will be Cook's third start overall this season. He also started in Week 15, when he completed 22-of-33 passes for 176 yards and one touchdown to one interception.
In three games this season, Cook sports a 59.2% completion rate and has thrown for 527 yards and a 1:6 touchdown to interception ratio.
It makes sense for the Jets to keep giving Cook the ball, though.
After all, the book is already written on Fields and Taylor and it's logical to give the rookie more looks down the stretch to see if New York has a diamond in the rough.
You can also obviously make the argument that Cook gives New York the best chance to lose, which will help their standing in the 2026 NFL draft.
In reality, Cook is going to need to pull off a miracle to convince the Jets he's the long-term answer.
Instead, the Jets are likely to add their next franchise quarterback with their high first-round pick in April.
