The New York Jets appear on the brink of benching Justin Fields seven months after signing him to a two-year, $40 million contract.
"Woody Johnson said the QB decision is 'completely up to the coach.' Aaron Glenn hasn't announced his plans yet, but he's moving toward naming Tyrod Taylor his starter, sources tell ESPN," Rich Cimini reports.
With that in mind, perhaps the Jets could look to trade the dual-threat quarterback before the deadline to a quarterback-needy team. These teams would make the most sense.
Las Vegas Raiders
Geno Smith just went 10-of-16 for 67 yards against the Chiefs during a game in which the Chiefs had as many first downs as the Chiefs had plays. Kenny Pickett then came in and promptly fumbled the ball away. Fields has been bad, but it would be genuinely difficult to be as bad as any Raiders quarterback has been.
Baltimore Ravens
The Ravens have been awful on offense ever since Lamar Jackson went down. In two games without the two-time MVP, they've scored 13 points. Cooper Rush is about as useful as a bag of lettuce under center. Fields could at least make plays with his legs in a way that Rush can't should Jackson miss anymore time.
Minnesota Vikings
Carson Wentz has reverted back to being bad Carson Wentz and threw two very bad interceptions against the Philadelphia Eagles. The Vikings are 2-2 with Wentz under center, but could benefit from having Fields as another option, and Fields would benefit from going to the School o Kevin O'Connell.
Los Angeles Rams
If I was Fields, I would want to spend some time with Sean McVay. We've seen what it did for Baker Mayfield, and any quarterback who needs some rehabilitation would benefit from spending some time in Los Angeles.
