For those who may have missed it, New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo made an appearance in the crowd on Monday night's edition of WWE Raw. But it wasn't just any appearance... He was involved in the action

During a commercial break, Dominik Myserio, Finn Balor and J.D. McDonagh — collectively known as The Judgment Day — confronted comedian Andrew Schulz, who was sitting in the front row. When things started to get physical between Mysterio and Schulz, Skattebo decided to stand up for Schulz, which led to a wild fracas.

WWE has worked with celebrities and athletes forever. It's often a perfect crossover for fans of all forms of entertainment and can bring new eyes to the product. Recently, WWE has had several appearances made by athletes such as Tyrese Haliburton and Jalen Brunson, and that has led to both getting in on some action, but never anything beyond that.

If you have followed WWE for any major length of time, you know that things like this are often done with a bigger thought in mind. Sure, it's possible that having Skattebo get physical on Monday could be a one-off thing, but it didn't feel like that. And maybe because Skattebo also plays for the Giants, for some, it could have instantly taken them back to January 22, 1995, in Tampa.

On that date, at the annual Royal Rumble event, WWE set up perhaps its biggest celebrity/athlete storyline in its history.

Following a loss in a tag team match, Bam Bam Bigelow got into an altercation with Hall of Fame linebacker Lawrence Taylor. This would lead to a match at WrestleMania 11, which was actually the main event of that show.

Taylor's playing career had ended following the 1993 season, but he was still looking for a way to be physical and use his athleticism. That led to a match that is unforgettable for long-time fans of professional wrestling, which was won by Taylor

Call me crazy, but I see Skattebo getting a similar opportunity, even if it's not on the grandest stage of them all, WrestleMania.

Things will be different for Skattebo. Unlike Taylor, he is still playing in the NFL and is under contract to the Giants. There are many takes out there that said this was a "bad look" and something that the Giants will not be in favor of.

Skattebo is just three weeks removed from a nasty ankle injury that required surgery and ended his season. The thought will be that Skattebo should be rehabbing that surgery, rather than engaging in things like this. Skattebo had some words for those fans.

Skattebo seems like the type of person who is going to walk to the beat of his own drum and while his playing career is important to him, he's going to want to have fun when he can. That's not to say that he's going to quit playing football and join the roster of WWE, but there is a good chance that WWE is going to want this short segment from Monday to lead to something in the future, and there is a good chance that Skattebo will be all ears. The Giants can shut that down if they like, or they can ask their rookie running back to agree to certain stipulations in order to protect their investment.

It will be interesting to see what — if anything — comes of it.
