The New York Giants won't have the services of quarterback Jaxson Dart for the Week 11 game against the Green Bay Packers.

Dart suffered a concussion in the Week 10 loss to the Chicago Bears that led to his being ruled out for Sunday. The rookie signal-caller did not log a single practice throughout the week before a decision on his status was officially made Friday.

However, we did see a positive sign for Dart on Friday that seems to suggest his absence might last just one game. Here's what we know.

When is Jaxson Dart coming back?

We don't have an exact answer to this yet, but The New York Post's Ryan Dunleavy reports that Dart was spotted on the practice field on Friday, which was the first time we've seen him since his injury.

Dunleavy adds that Dart's simple presence on the field could indicate he's in Phase 2 of the concussion protocol and that opens the door for him to play in Week 12.

"Dart was on the field during media-viewed stretching Friday, his first sighting since he suffered a concussion last Sunday," Dunleavy wrote. "Dart likely is in Phase 2 of the five-step protocol and, barring any setbacks, he could be in line to practice late next week and then play against the Lions."

The Giants are going to take it slow with Dart, but given Dunleavy's report, it would not shock us to see the Ole Miss product on the field next week.

Until he returns, the Giants are rolling with Jameis Winston as their starter over fellow signal-caller Russell Wilson, the team announced during the week.

"He'll do a great job. I have a lot of confidence in Jameis," interim head coach Mike Kafka said.

Not a surprising move at all, to be honest.

Wilson has played terrible this season and the Giants owed it to their players to give Winston a shot to see if he can provide a higher level of play than the clearly declining Wilson.

We'll find out if he can on Sunday.
