Shedeur Sanders' fall down the board in the 2025 NFL draft was easily the biggest storyline to emerge from the seven-round event back in April. One team that was expected to be interested in him was the New York Giants, but a recent report has emerged suggesting that Sanders knew before the draft that wasn't the case.

Armed with the No. 3 overall pick, the Giants were rumored to be considering selecting Sanders with this pick. Instead, they took defensive end Abdul Carter, shoring up their defense. However, they caught attention when they traded back into the first round and selected Jaxson Dart instead of Sanders at quarterback.

That started a domino effect in which teams continued to select passers over Sanders until the Cleveland Browns finally traded up for him in the fifth round. While many folks believed that the Giants were a logical fit for Sanders, a rumor has popped up indicating that he knew they weren't going to take him.

"While the Giants worked out Shedeur Sanders the week before the draft, Sanders sensed much earlier that New York probably wasn't in the cards for him," Jeremy Fowler wrote for ESPN. "Sanders openly acknowledged during the predraft process that he didn't hit it off with Giants coaches, per a source."

Sanders' poor relationship with New York could explain why they opted to select Dart over him with the No. 25 pick. He instead wound up with a Cleveland team that also needs significant help at quarterback. So while he fell much further down the board than expected, Sanders could still earn the starting QB gig come Week 1 if he balls out during training camp.
