Russell Wilson reveals why he chose Giants over Browns in free agency image

Russell Wilson was a bit limited in free agency as far as choices were concerned.

But at least in the early going, it seemed like the Cleveland Browns were a legitimate alternative to his eventual destination, the New York Giants.

But at Fanatics FanFest over the weekend, Wilson revealed that he only had eyes for the Giants, and for one specific reason.

That reason? Malik Nabers.

Nabers had a tremendous rookie season out of LSU, and Wilson wanted to throw to him.

“I came here because of him,” Wilson said. “I really wanted to play with someone who is special like him.”

Nabers missed two games as a rookie and still had 1,204 receiving yards. He wasn’t exactly catching passes from stars, either.

Wilson isn’t entirely assured the starting gig in New York. Fellow veteran Jameis Winston is in town, and rookie Jaxson Dart was chosen with the 25th overall pick.

But it sure seems like it is Wilson’s job to lose, and he certainly chose the Giants with the intent of being the starter.

One thing is for certain: Nabers is the WR1, and whoever throws to him, he’ll make plays.

Wilson is just hoping that that QB is indeed him.
