The New York Giants lost to the Dallas Cowboys 40-37 in overtime on Sunday afternoon to drop to 0-2 on the season. A lot of this loss has to do with the way defensive coordinator Shane Bowen called the game in the fourth quarter.

The Giants gave up 21 points in the fourth quarter despite scoring 20 points in the fourth quarter. Instead of playing a regular defense when leading 37-34 in the fourth quarter, the Giants played a prevent defense. A prevent defense only prevents teams from winning in the NFL. There are major questions about New York's defense after there was a lot of hype about it entering the 2025 NFL season.

New York Giants Fans are Wondering Why Shane Bowen Is Still Employed as Defensive Coordinator

Many Giants fans are wondering why Bowen hasn't been fired yet after the way they lost the game on Sunday. They expressed their frustration on Twitter and are not over losing to the Cowboys.

During the first two games of the NFL season, the Giants have the 32nd ranked defense at giving up 455.0 yards per game. They have given up the fifth most points per game at 30.5 points per game. The Giants have also given up fifth most passing yards per game at 277.5. They have also given up the most rushing yards at 177.5 yards per game. Wasn't this defense supposed to be better this season with the talent on the roster? Well, talent can't overcome bad coaching.

Bowen is not a good defensive coordinator. It was a terrible hire by head coach Brian Daboll from the start. If the Giants defense gets torched against the Kansas City Chiefs next week, Daboll needs to fire Bowen in order to save his job potentially.
