The New York Giants have a massive wide receiver problem they won't be able to adequately fix after wideout Malik Nabers went down with what is thought to be a season-ending injury.
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, the early belief is that Nabers has suffered a torn ACL after he exited Sunday's win over the Los Angeles Chargers with a knee injury.
There is simply no replacing a star player like Nabers, and especially during the season. However, there is an obvious minor move the Giants could make.
Remember the Giants' old friend, Isaiah Hodgins?
Well, he's currently on the Pittsburgh Steelers' practice squad after signing with the team earlier this month. The Athletic's Dan Duggan believes that could be someone New York turns to for depth in the wake of Nabers' injury.
"Sure we'll spend a lot of time discussing possible (wide receiver) additions, but the obvious immediate move is to sign Isaiah Hodgins off the Steelers' practice squad," Duggan wrote.
A former sixth-round pick of the Buffalo Bills, Hodgins had the best seasons of his career with the Giants in 2022 and 2023. Hodgins tallied 581 receiving yards in 25 games played in that span before ultimately flaming out in 2024.
Is he going to move the needle?
Probably not, but he will give the Giants a depth piece that can quickly acclimate and contribute thanks to his experience in head coach Brian Daboll's system.
As far as simply bringing in a body quickly is concerned, Hodgins is one of the better options out there for the Giants to explore.
