The New York Giants will eventually want to give their starting quarterback job to first-round rookie Jaxson Dart.
It won't happen this week, because Russell Wilson just threw for 450 yards.
But when it's time, it might be a tough transition.
That is, unless the Giants make a trade. What if they trade away Russ so he can't be in the way anymore?

ESPN's Dan Graziano floated that idea in a new article on Friday:
"Even if quarterback Russell Wilson is playing well by midseason, there's a possibility the Giants will decide to switch to first-round pick Jaxson Dart -- either because they think he's ready to take over or because they're losing too much and feel they need to change something to produce a spark. When and if that happens, Wilson could be appealing to a front office looking to acquire a veteran QB for the stretch run. Jameis Winston is also in the Giants' quarterback room, though he might be in their 2026 plans as a veteran backup to Dart."

Dart looked sharp in the preseason, although there's no way to know for sure how that might translate to regular season action.
But the Giants know he's their QB of the future and that Russ is just the bridge.
When it's time to cross the bridge, a trade might help make it all run a little smoother.
