Giants considering shocking Jaxson Dart decision, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport image

The New York Giants are in the running for the No. 1 overall pick.

If they lose their last two games, they'll have that selection.

And if they get it, they could consider something drastic.

The first overall pick is often used on a quarterback. On paper, it looks like the Giants have a quarterback: Jaxson Dart.

They just chose Dart with the 25th pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. They traded back into the first round to get the star out of Ole Miss.

Dart has been promising this season, although he has introduced some injury concerns, and he's coming off a brutal Week 16 against the Vikings.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport suggested in a Sunday morning report that the Giants would consider moving past Dart if they got the No. 1 pick.

"Expect (the Giants) to evaluate all options including looking at Fernando Mendoza before they make a decision of how they're going to proceed," Rapoport said on NFL Network.

Clearly, it's reasonable for a team to examine all options with something as important as the draft's first pick.

At the same time, it's a huge asset. It can be traded for immense value, or used on another potential superstar.

If the Giants choose to use it on a QB, they'd then have to decide what to do with Dart. He'd become a fascinating trade candidate, potentially.

Of course, this is all speculation based on this one report from Rapoport. But it has put forward the idea of something very surprising, even if it feels unlikely.
