The New Orleans Saints are dealing with the aftermath of Derek Carr's shocking retirement.
With the veteran now out of the picture, the Saints are likely to move forward with their current group of quarterbacks, including second-round pick Tyler Shough.
However, there's a small chance the Saints look to reunite with a fan favorite if they're searching for more competition at the position.
Though he just signed a two-year deal with the New York Giants this offseason, Ryan Novozinsky of NJ.com believes the Saints could come calling about Jameis Winston.
"It makes sense for New Orleans to take another shot on Winston, who played there from 2020-2023, starting 10 games over four seasons. The 31-year-old vet — who started seven games with the Browns last season — would be the best bridge option they could hope for right now," Novozinsky wrote.
Winston is currently the backup to starter Russell Wilson in the Giants quarterback room. However, New York also traded up to grab Jaxson Dart out of Ole Miss with the No. 25 overall pick.
Winston was the first quarterback the Giants added to the room this offseason. A week later, they signed Wilson to a one-year deal and then grabbed Dart in the draft.
If the Giants are comfortable enough with Dart's development going into training camp, it's not outside the realm of possibilities for New York to part ways with Winston if they get enough value in a trade.
However, it seems unlikely a deal will come to fruition given the fact that New Orleans just spent a second-round pick on a rookie quarterback who will turn 26 years old at the beginning of the season.
