The New York Giants lost a thriller last week against the Dallas Cowboys, providing confidence that the team could get its first win of the year in Week 3. However, that was not the case as quarterback Russell Wilson couldn't replicate his success.

Wilson was one of the better performers in the NFL last week, but he struggled mightily against the Kansas City Chiefs on "Sunday Night Football." The veteran quarterback led an offense that scored just one touchdown and nine points overall on the night, as New York lost to Kansas City 22-9.

Here's a look at how Wilson's performance could impact the Giants' plans.

Will the Giants bench Russell Wilson?

With the loss, the Giants are now 0-3 and headed towards another season without the playoffs if they can't turn it around. Despite Wilson's success in Week 2 against the Cowboys, the veteran has now struggled in two of the first three games this year.

Therefore, it is only a matter of time until the Giants bench Wilson in favor of Jaxson Dart, but it is hard to tell when that will happen. New York has a tough schedule this year and presumably want to continue competing this year without worrying too much about Dart's development.

After the game, head coach Brian Daboll declined to answer a question about whether Wilson will start next week.

"You guys have asked me about guys after games," he said, via Connor Hughes. "I’m not going to answer that."

Wilson had another tough performance on Sunday night, as he threw two more interceptions and failed to score a touchdown. It is officially his worst performance of the season in most statistical categories, and the spotlight only gets brighter on the Giants QB room.

The Giants have one of the toughest schedules in the league, making it tough to predict when the team will start Dart. The Los Angeles Chargers look like one of the best teams in the league, making Week 4 a brutal option, so Wilson likely gets at least one more week.

Perhaps the softest landing spot for Dart is against the New Orleans Saints in Week 5, but that game is still on the road. Additionally, that game is immediately followed by a Thursday night game against the Philadelphia Eagles and a tough road trip to play both Philadelphia and the Denver Broncos.
