The New York Giants have a rookie entering the quarterback room, but it may be some time before fans see him on the field.

Immediately after the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft concluded, which included the selection of quarterback Jaxson Dart, head coach Brian Daboll named Russell Wilson as the starting quarterback.

That decision came as no surprise considering the time Dart will need to acclimate himself to the NFL.

Even so, general manager Joe Schoen revealed a bit of the plan for Dart, which involves a similar path taken by Buffalo Bills superstar and reigning MVP Josh Allen.

"Jaxson will get a fair amount of reps with the threes and maybe you'll see him in there, sprinkle him in when he doesn't even know he's supposed to go in there just to see how he reacts being in a different atmosphere. He won't know when or why. And then continue to work with the two older guys," Schoen said via Giants Wire.

Schoen noted that Dart isn't too far behind in the playbook than the rest of the room considering both Wilson and Jameis Winston joined the roster this offseason.

The plan for Dart should always have the long-term goal as the priority. Even with Daboll and Schoen fighting for their jobs, Dart isn't ready to handle the starting duties in the NFL.

The Ole Miss product certainly has some intriguing traits, but the Giants have to develop his abilities to read through progressions, throw with anticipation and work under center.

The future can be bright for Dart, and the Giants are making sure they aren't rushing the rookie into anything too quickly.
