The New York Giants made headlines after Week 10, as they fired head coach Brian Daboll. In doing so, the Giants became the second team of the 2025 NFL season to fire their head coach. Offensive coordinator Mike Kafka will serve as interim head coach for the remainder of the 2025 season.

The question now becomes who will be the person to be the next full time head coach of the Giants? Will Kafka do enough to earn the job full-time, or will the organization look elsewhere. Gary Myers reports that one name to watch is former Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy.

"The speculation season has arrived," Myers writes on X. "Here is what one source who knows the Giants well suggests: Head coach: Mike McCarthy. He knows how to win. OC: Charlie Weis Jr. Was Dart's OC at Ole Miss. DC: Matt Patricia. Still one of the best DCs. Bad HC."

McCarthy had tremendous success with the Cowboys, leading the team to 12 wins three consecutive times from 2021-23. Dallas won just seven games in 2024, but they were without Dak Prescott for a large chunk of the season due to a hamstring injury. McCarthy led the Packers to a Super Bowl XLV championship in the 2010 season.

In terms of big fish hires, McCarthy is arguably the most proven name available, excluding Bill Belichick, should he be interested in the job. Considering his history of winning in multiple places, McCarthy's name will be a popular one this coming head coach hiring cycle.
