Giants predicted to hire award-winning head coach who could be next Mike Vrabel image

The New York Giants need a new head coach and there is one candidate in particular who just makes too much sense for Big Blue.

That is none other than now-former Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski, who was cut loose on Black Monday after six seasons in Cleveland.

Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer reported that Stefanski would be a "top candidate" for New York, so the Giants are expected to at least give him a look.

We aren't the only ones who see Stefanski as an ideal fit for the Giants, though, as FanSided's Nick Villano predicts the former Browns head coach will land in New York.

Villano believes Stefanski could lead the Giants to a quick turnaround, just like we saw Mike Vrabel do with the New England Patriots this season.

With Stefanski at the helm, the Giants could see a New England Patriots-like turnaround next season. They have so many pieces in place, both young and old, that make this the right place to go moving forward.

A two-time Coach of the Year, Stefanski is well-respected around the league after leading the Browns to a pair of playoff appearances and one postseason win.

Things didn't end well for Stefanski in Cleveland, but he was also dealt a brutally tough hand with the Deshaun Watson trade, and Stefanski didn't have a good quarterback situation in 2025, either.

There are a lot of parallels to draw with Vrabel and Stefanski, which makes a quick "Patriots-style turnaround" a real possibility if the Giants hire him.

The Patriots head coach and former Coach of the Year winner did a great job with the Tennessee Titans before a lackluster ending to his tenure that was largely a result of awful roster building by the general manager.

And, also like Stefanski, Vrabel was still widely considered a very good head coach who wouldn't stay available for long.

New York should be an attractive destination for Stefanski because the Giants have a very promising young quarterback in Jaxson Dart and a true No. 1 wide receiver in Malik Nabers, giving him a strong foundation on offense.

We also know Stefanski liked Dart in the pre-draft process in 2025, according to Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News, so that will help New York's cause.

Adding an experienced and offensive-minded head coach with a history of success leading a down-and-out franchise makes Stefanski just what the doctor ordered for Big Blue and bringing him aboard is a no-brainer for general manager Joe Schoen.
