Giants' Jaxson Dart, Cam Skattebo era is officially here — and it's beautiful image

In the earliest days of a new big thing, there's an innocence about it all.

There are no guarantees about the future. There is just the exciting reality of discovery, of learning what can be done, one step at a time.

That's where the New York Giants find themselves with Jaxson Dart and Cam Skattebo.

Of course, they had high hopes for these two high draft picks, but it wasn't even a given they'd have starting roles this early, let alone be playing as well as they are.

But now, twice in three weeks, the Giants have picked up upset wins, first over the Los Angeles Chargers, and now over the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday Night Football. And Dart and Skattebo are at the heart of it.

Dart can do it all.

He throws darts, yes, both from the pocket and on the move.

And he also runs like a guy who has been watching Skattebo run a lot. Dart doesn't slide. He finishes his runs, hard, through contact.

Skattebo sets that kind of tone, for sure. There's never been a physical play that Skattebo didn't want to pursue. Run people over. Run through people. Run as hard and angry as possible, all the time. Shoot, Skattebo even blocks like he's trying to knock everyone in his path to the ground.

There's a part of this that feels like a duo that will be transcendent for years to come for the Giants. But it doesn't always work like that.

It's not the time to worry about the future that heavily. It's a time to appreciate the present.

The Giants may not make it to the playoffs this season. They're still just 2-4 after pulling away from the Eagles on Thursday night.

But they've found the face of their franchise, and his name is Jaxson Dart. And they've found his perfect, tone-setting running mate, and his name is Cam Skattebo.

There's nothing better than the early days of a good new thing. It's easy to dream right now, to dream of Dart and Skattebo hoisting a Lombardi Trophy.

Too big a dream? Maybe. But with the way Dart and Skattebo are playing right now, it really does feel like the sky is the limit for them together.
