The Miami Dolphins have hired their next general manager and it could be good news for the New York Giants' chances of hiring John Harbaugh.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the Dolphins are hiring Green Bay Packers vice president of player personnel, Jon-Eric Sullivan, as their next general manager.
"A new GM in Miami: Dolphins are finalizing a deal to hire Packers VP of Player Personnel Jon-Eric Sullivan as their general manager, per sources," Schefter said.
So, what does this have to do with the Giants' pursuit of Harbaugh?
Well, the Dolphins were considered the Giants' top competition for the former Baltimore Ravens head coach, per ESPN's Jordan Raanan.
But Miami did not hire the general manager with a connection to Harbaugh, which was Los Angeles Chargers assistant general manager Chad Alexander, who was a finalist for the Dolphins.
As far as we know, Sullivan has no connection to Harbaugh, which is a good sign that Miami does not expect to land the veteran head coach.
We would have been much more concerned about Miami's chances of stealing Harbaugh away from the Giants had the team hired Alexander instead.
