The New York Giants are in position to grab the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NFL draft, but they're going to need some help.
Big Blue squandered its opportunity to lock up the No. 1 pick last week by beating the Las Vegas Raiders. Now, the Giants sit in the No. 2 spot and need to lose to the Dallas Cowboys and the Raiders to beat the Kansas City Chiefs to move back up.
As awful as the Raiders have been this season, there is a legit shot for them to beat the Chiefs, as Kansas City won't have either of its top two quarterbacks in Patrick Mahomes and Gardner Minshew due to injury.
As the Giants prepare for their matchup against the Cowboys in Week 18, there has been some thought that Dallas might sit its starters, including quarterback Dak Prescott.
That would be bad news for the Giants, as the Cowboys sitting Prescott would improve New York's chances of winning.
On Tuesday, owner and general manager Jerry Jones said the Cowboys are indeed planning on starting Prescott, which is good news for the Giants.
However, Jones also hinted that Prescott might not play a full game, which is bad news for New York.
"We're gonna start Dak," Jones said on 105.3 The Fan. "How we use Dak, let's make that part of the game plan that we won't talk about."
Prescott starting obviously increases the chances the Giants will lose, but how those chances are increased will depend upon how long the Cowboys quarterback actually plays.
If the Giants do indeed pull Prescott during the game, they will hand the offense over to second-year quarterback Joe Milton.
As for the Giants, interim head coach Mike Kafka has said he plans to play his starters in Week 18, including quarterback Jaxson Dart.
