To be fair, the New York Giants don't actually play in the Empire State.
But the New Jersey-based team has N.Y. In their name, and so they can certainly feel like they're a part of NYC.
That's what made Giants fans so mad on Sunday.
After the New England Patriots, from the Boston area, won the AFC Championship Game to advance to the Super Bowl, the Empire State Building was lit up in Pats colors.

The comments section was incredible:
- "At least Giants fans can pretend it's for them."
- "NYC adopted the Patriots because the Jets gave them no choice."
- "Where is the snow?"
- "I thought it was lit up these colors because the Rangers scored a goal @ MSG!"
There are also comments asking the mayor to put a stop to these antics.
It is a bit of a curious decision.

The Empire State Building has done cool colors before, like blue and orange when the Mets have a big win.
But this is a big difference. While Boston isn't far away, New York and Boston don't exactly get a long.
Someone might have to explain this eventually, because it's a curious call, to be sure.
