Cam Skattebo is a big deal.
New York Giants fans certainly feel that way about their rookie running back, but it's not just them. There's a whole lot of fascination with Skattebo in general.
Google released its annual "Year in Search" data this week, and Skattebo featured prominently. He was ranked as the No. 4 trending figure in all of sports.
The top-five looked like this:
- Shedeur Sanders
- Terrence Crawford
- Cooper Flagg
- Cam Skattebo
- Micah Parsons

Sanders' place atop the list isn't surprising, but Skattebo's position might be.
He broke onto the scene in the College Football Playoff as a do-everything running back for Arizona State.
Getting drafted to a big-market team like the Giants didn't hurt his cause.
Then when he was on the field, Skattebo made a number of highlight-reel, physical plays that caught everyone's attention.
He added in a visually nasty injury to his lower leg to draw attention.
And recently, Skattebo made a viral WWE appearance.
So yeah, when you sum it up like that, it actually makes sense. Skattebo has been everywhere and has done a little bit of everything, enough to get the attention of sports fans all across the map.
