It has been a disappointing season for New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara.

Not only has Kamara's production been lackluster, but he has now missed three games in a row due to knee and ankle issues.

Kamara didn't show any signs of progress last week, either, as he did not practice at all before being ruled out on Friday.

Here's what we know about Kamara's chances of suiting up in the Week 16 game against the New York Jets.

Will Alvin Kamara return in Week 16?

Kamara's status for Week 16 remains up in the air, but we would say he has a slightly better than 50/50 shot to suit up.

That's because the Saints did not place Kamara on injured reserve after he suffered his injuries, which suggests New Orleans doesn't expect him to miss more than the three games he has already been absent for.

We aren't more optimistic for Kamara because of his lack of practice participation last week.

We'll get our next update on Kamara on Wednesday, when the Saints release their first injury report of the week. If Kamara can log a limited practice, that will put him on track to return.

Kamara isn't the only injury concern the Saints have at running back this week, as backup Devin Neal is dealing with a hamstring injury that forced his early exit on Sunday.

If both backs sit out, Audric Estime and Evan Hull will likely split work in the Saints' backfield.
