Will Alvin Kamara play in Week 14? Latest injury updates on Saints running back image

The New Orleans Saints didn't have the services of running back Alvin Kamara last week.

Kamara sustained knee and ankle injuries in Week 12 that forced his early exit from that contest and led to him sitting out in Week 13.

So far this week, Kamara has not been able to practice on Wednesday or Thursday and is trending toward sitting out.

Here's what we think about Kamara's chances of playing in Week 14.

Will Alvin Kamara play in Week 14?

FRIDAY UPDATE: Kamara has officially been ruled out.

FRIDAY UPDATE: Kamara was not taking part in practice once again on Friday, which is yet another sign he won't play in Week 14.

"Didn’t see RB Alvin Kamara (knee), RT Taliese Fuaga (ankle) or S Justin Reid (knee) during the portion of Friday’s practice open to media," Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football reported.

Answer: Probably not

Given the fact that Kamara has missed five straight practices, it's looking like he won't be able to play on Sunday.

Kamara was diagnosed with an MCL sprain, according to Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football, and those are typically multi-week injuries.

"Alvin Kamara has an MCL sprain, according to a source. Avoided a major injury, but we'll see how it progresses," Underhill reported on Nov. 23. "He could take a little time, but nothing that's super serious or threatening long term. Hard to know how long. Alvin and his team often beat timelines."

Add in the fact that the Saints have no reason to rush Kamara back with the season already over and it makes it even more likely the veteran running back won't play in Week 14.

Who is Alvin Kamara's handcuff?

If Kamara is indeed sidelined, the reins of the backfield will once again be in the hands of rookie Devin Neal.

Neal totaled 47 yards on 14 carries last week while adding three catches for 22 yards. Not great production by any stretch, but volume alone makes Neal a flex option for Week 14.
