There are very few locks expected during the three-day NFL Draft that kicks off Thursday night in Green Bay.
But there might be one thing that's closer to a sure thing than anything else: The Saints won't be trading down.
New Orleans GM Mickey Loomis never does it. Seriously, never.
Since 2007, Loomis has made 27 trades during NFL Drafts.
All 27 of those have been trades up, according to Warren Sharp.
this is insane!!

the last time Saints GM Mickey Loomis traded down in the NFL Draft, the iPhone wasn't even invented
he hasn't traded down ONCE since 2007
his trade record since then:

There is a very simple argument in Loomis' favor here. Trading down gets you worse players, at least in a consensus sense.
On the flip side, trading down allows you to get additional draft assets and wind up with more cracks at hitting on a future starter.
But Loomis has clearly locked in his pattern. Teams probably don't even call him about moving up into a Saints spot anymore.
New Orleans starts this year's NFL Draft at No. 9 on Thursday night.
The Saints may stay pat, but don't expect them to move out of the top-10.
And if they do, well, that's the biggest story of the entire first night of the draft.
