Although the New Orleans Saints have shown some signs of fight despite having a 1-6 record, the team hasn't been able to put together consistent football to bring in wins.
Starting quarterback Spencer Rattler has shown more upside than most expected through seven games, but Week 7 against the Chicago Bears resulted in his worst game of the season.
233 passing yards, two touchdowns, and twelve more yards on the ground, but Rattler also lost a fumble, and finished with season-highs in sacks (4), and interceptions (3) in the 26-14 loss to the Bears. What could be next for the Saints under first-year head coach Kellen Moore?
Kellen Moore appears non-committed to QB Spencer Rattler, labeled job status as 'week-to-week'
After losing their first six out of seven games to begin the season, starting quarterback Spencer Rattler hasn't been as bad as people anticipated. Through seven starts, 13th in the NFL in passing yards (1,450), 21st in passing touchdowns (8), and 16th in total QB rating (55.7).
This doesn't stray away from the fact that the Saints used their early second-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft on Louisville quarterback Tyler Shough.
Head coach Kellen Moore gave an update to the quarterback room after the Week 7 loss.
"That's week-to-week. We'll see as we go. We're focused on getting better right now... Spencer (Rattler) obviously had a game where some turnovers occurred; we get to respond," Moore said, according to NOLA.com's Luke Johnson.
New Orleans will have another tough task, hosting the injury-riddled Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 8, who are coming off a vengeful loss to the Detroit Lions on Monday Night Football.
