The New Orleans Saints won't have wide receiver Chris Olave on the field for their Week 18 game against the Atlanta Falcons.

According to Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football, a blood clot was detected in Olave's lung, which will keep him out for the season finale.

But thankfully it was caught early and he has avoided what could have been a much more serious issue.

"Chris Olave will be out this week, per source. A blood clot was detected in his lung. Got caught early before anything bad could happen and will be fine. But not playing this week," Underhill reported.

Here's to hoping for a speedy recovery for Olave, who Underhill notes has already been discharged from the hospital and is doing well.

The former first-round pick finishes his season with 100 catches for 1,163 yards and nine touchdowns, all of which were career-highs for him.

Olave will be in the final year of his contract in 2026, but all signs point to the Saints retaining him on an extension at some point.

The Saints now have extra motivation to keep Olave around, as he's the No. 1 target for rookie quarterback Tyler Shough, who has improved by leaps and bounds down the stretch run of the season.

New Orleans will have ample time to get that done, although the longer the team waits, the more expensive Olave could become.
