The New England Patriots increased their winning streak to eight with a 27-14 win over the New York Jets and quarterback Drake Maye was outstanding once again.
Maye completed 25-of-34 passes for 281 yards and one score, and he connected with his pass-catchers on 11 straight completions to start the game before wide receiver Stefon Diggs dropped a pass.
Maye could've had even more, as Mack Hollins was also responsible for a drop on a deep ball that could've led to a long touchdown, which would've put Maye over 300 yards on the evening.
The second-year signal-caller continues to make a very strong case for the Most Valuable Player award, something that would cement him as one of the better quarterbacks in the NFL. But if you ask left tackle Will Campbell, Maye is already there.
After the win over the Jets on Thursday night, the Patriots' left tackle boldly claimed that Maye is the best player in the league.
"He's playing at an elite level right now," Campbell said, according to ESPN's Mike Reiss. "I'm biased, but I think he's the best player in the NFL. There's no game that we're out of when we have him."

No argument with Campbell saying Maye is playing at an elite level, but we would say calling Maye the best player in the NFL is jumping the gun.
We do, however, appreciate Campbell pumping up his teammate, who deserves a ton of praise and respect for a monstrous leap he has taken in Year 2.
"I would say his performance, in general, has been what we expect," head coach Mike Vrabel explained. "We have high expectations for Drake. He has high expectations for himself."
"I don't think anything has surprised me," Maye stated. "When you put the work in, and we have good players and good coaches, you are going to get a result that you want."
With the victory on Thursday night, the Patriots became the first team in the NFL to reach nine wins. They could create more space between themselves and the Buffalo Bills if Josh Allen and co. Lose on Sunday.
As for Maye, he'll have a fantastic opportunity to continue building his strong MVP case with a Week 12 matchup against the putrid Cincinnati Bengals defense.
