The New England Patriots have handled the running back situation oddly all year long.
That continues on Sunday in their Week 10 matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The first carry of the game went to Terrell Jennings out of the backfield.
That was instead of the expected starter, rookie TreVeyon Henderson.

Why are Patriots using Terrell Jennings at RB, not TreVeyon Henderson?
There's no obvious explanation for this.
Rhamondre Stevenson is out, which has pushed everyone up a spot on the depth chart.
Henderson got 14 carries last week, but Jennings did see some work, too, including in the red zone.
The Pats have some mixture of affection for Jennings and caution with Henderson.
They were using Stevenson a lot more than Henderson when both guys were healthy. They haven't fully dove in to using the second-round rookie out of Ohio State.
It's a frustrating situation, to be sure. It's hard to know what to expect from this point out in the New England backfield.
