The New England Patriots picked up a blowout victory over the New York Jets in Week 17, as Mike Vrabel's squad completely dominated New York on the road and was in full control throughout.
New England has won 12 of its last 13 games after starting 1-2 and has posted its first 13-win campaign since 2017. Sunday's victory also moved the Patriots to 8-0 on the road, meaning they will finish with an undefeated road record this season.
The Patriots are one of the hottest teams in football and are one step closer to clinching the AFC East.
AFC East standings
1 New England Patriots (13-3)
2. Buffalo Bills (11-4, will play Philadelphia Eagles in Week 17)
3. Miami Dolphins (7-9)
4. New York Jets (3-13)
New England can take home the division in Week 17 if the Buffalo Bills fall to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. However, even if the Bills beat the Eagles, the Patriots can clinch the AFC East in Week 18 with a win over the Miami Dolphins.
Snagging the AFC East should be New England's primary focus, but the No. 1 seed is still a possibility for the Patriots.
AFC playoff picture
The Denver Broncos are in the driver's seat for the top seed and control their destiny. However, if New England defeats Miami in Week 18 and Denver loses to the Los Angeles Chargers to end the regular season, the Patriots will be the No. 1 seed in the AFC.
We'll see how the rest of Week 17 transpires, but New England will have something to play for in Week 18, no matter what.
