With Rhamondre Stevenson returning to the lineup in Week 12, it remains unclear how the New England Patriots will operate their backfield.
Rookie running back TreVeyon Henderson was outstanding in Stevenson's absence, which has led many to wonder if he could get more work than he did before Stevenson's injury.
While we were hoping for some semblance of a specific update from Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel on the matter, Vrabel would only divulge that the team will ride the hot hand.
"TreVeyon [Henderson] is going to still run the ball. Rhamondre. Terrell [Jennings]. They’re all going to have a role. That’s what this is about," Vrabel said on Sunday.
"No different than what we’re doing at receiver. If one guy is doing really well, then that’s what is going to go. But we’re going to use all these guys and try to get something out of them."
Prior to Stevenson's injury, Henderson was playing second fiddle to the veteran and was only averaging 8.6 touches per game, which obviously greatly limited his production.
Perhaps that will change after what we have seen out of the rookie the last three weeks, but for now we would suspect it will be status quo in New England, with Stevenson leading the backfield and Henderson spelling him.
