Stephen A. Smith proclaims Drake Maye is a liar in rant bashing Patriots QB image

New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye has been the target of an attack by ESPN's First Take.

Cam Newton called the Patriots "Fool's Gold" due to their schedule being labeled as easy. Maye responded to that criticism saying he doesn't even know what show Newton is on.

“I don’t even know what show he’s on,” Maye said via MASSLive. “I think they get paid to make remarks and make certain comments. So, I just worry about what people in our organization think, and worry about what we think and what my teammates think."

This triggered the patron saint of not overreacting or feeling self-important, Stephen A. Smith, who called Maye a liar for saying he isn't aware of First Take.

"[Drake Maye] is a liar," Smith exclaimed. "First Take is the number one morning show... Don’t tell me you a athlete and you don’t know that. Don’t tell me you a athlete and you don’t know that Cam Newton is on this show. You lying."

This weird one-sided feud, where it's only Newton and Smith who care while Maye is just worried about playing the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, is First Take in a nutshell — yell into a void and say things that make no sense for two hours every weekday from 10-Noon EST.

To focus on football, the Patriots have a chance to put the final nail in the coffin of the Bengals this Sunday. Cincinnati could have Joe Burrow back, which feels like a last resort tactic of trying to run the table and sneak into the playoffs.
