Patriots star releases first rap single to set up a new career image

There's plenty of history of sports and hip-hop crossing over.

The latest comes from the New England Patriots, where safety Jabril Peppers has just released his first official rap single.

The song is called "Point 'Em Out" and has garnered more than half a million views on TikTok so far.

Peppers performs under his rap name of J.Pepp.

The former Michigan star joined the Patriots in 2022 and had a great 2023 season (78 tackles, 8 passes defensed).

In 2024, he was arrested on charges of domestic violence and cocaine possession. He was acquitted of all charges in January, per SI.

Even after Peppers was reinstated by the commissioner last November, he hurt his hamstring and missed the final three games of the season.

Peppers is one of the most versatile defenders in the NFL, and now he's added some versatility to his life with this burgeoning rap career.

New coach Mike Vrabel will simply be hoping that Peppers isn't too distracted by his music, but there are plenty of active athletes who do just fine with their sport and another realm at the same time.

It's cool for Peppers to be expanding his horizons like this, and hopefully J.Pepp finds the right notes.
