The New England Patriots are adding a running back as the statuses of running backs Rhamondre Stevenson and TreVeyon Henderson are up in the air for the Week 11 game against the New York Jets.

According to Aaron Wilson of Click2Houston.com, New England is signing running back Jonathan Ward to the practice squad.

The signing comes amid Stevenson and Henderson dealing with injuries.

Stevenson has missed two games in a row with a toe injury and Henderson landed on the injury report this week after tweaking his knee in the Week 10 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Both players were listed as limited on the team's Monday injury report, which was an estimation because the Patriots only held a walkthrough. Terrell Jennings suffered a knee injury in Week 10, also, and was limited on Monday.

The limited practices would appear to be a good sign for all three players' chances of suiting up, but we have to remember the injury report was just an estimation and the Patriots are operating on a short week with their game happening on Thursday.

This is Ward's second stint on the Pats' practice squad this season. He was signed in late October before being released earlier this month. He did not appear in a game with the Patriots over his brief stint.

With Ward in the fold, the Patriots will have six running backs between the active roster and practice squad if they don't cut one after adding Ward.

Along with Stevenson, Henderson and Jennings on the active roster, New England has D'Ernest Johnson and Rushawn Baker on the practice squad.
