Mr. Irrelevant is actually very relevant.

And given the recent success of 49ers QB Brock Purdy, the last pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, it's a more important spot than ever.

The New England Patriots pulled off a draft day trade on Saturday to earn themselves the right to finish off the draft.

With that selection, No. 257 overall, the Pats chose Kobee Minor, a defensive back who spent time at three colleges.

Minor began his D-I career at Texas Tech in 2020. He lasted with the Red Raiders for three years.

In 2023, Minor went to Indiana, where he made 29 tackles.

He finally broke through a bit better for Memphis in 2024, making seven tackles for loss, including two sacks.

The Pats have a strong defensive backfield, so it's not a given that the cornerback will break through.

At the Memphis pro day, Minor ran his 40-yard dash in 4.56 seconds. He had a 36-inch vertical. His Raw Athletic Score was a disappointing 2.93.

Despite those underwhelming numbers, Minor's name will be well-known now. He hopes to become relevant.
