The New England Patriots are having a fantastic 2025 campaign, as the team is 12-3 and has already clinched a playoff berth in the AFC.
Drake Maye's ascension to being one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL has been the driving force behind New England's turnaround under head coach Mike Vrabel, who is in his first season as the franchise's head coach. Maye has had an efficient season, leading the league in completion percentage at 70.8% while tossing 25 touchdowns to eight interceptions.
Maye's rise to being a franchise quarterback has caught the attention of general managers around the league. NFL Network's Tom Pelissero conducted a survey where 30 executives, including 21 general managers, voted on awards for the 2025 season.
Though Maye didn't receive the most votes for MVP, as Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford was the overwhelming winner with 18 votes, the Patriots signal-caller did garner some respect from the general managers, earning five votes.
It's great to see that high-level NFL executives are taking notice of Maye's excellent performance this season. The 2024 No.3 overall pick is quickly establishing himself as the face of the franchise in New England, and it looks like the Patriots have finally found their long-term answer at the sport's most vital position after years of uncertainty following Tom Brady's retirement and the failed Mac Jones experiment.
New England will finish the regular season with a road game versus the New York Jets and a home matchup with the Miami Dolphins. If the Patriots win both of these contests, they'll be AFC East champions and host a home playoff game.
