The New England Patriots have been one of the biggest surprises of the NFL season. After winning four games in 2024, the Patriots have already more than doubled that total, going 9-2 through their first 11 games and leading the AFC East by two games over the Buffalo Bills

And while the Patriots have cemented themselves as a real team with a great quarterback in Drake Maye and a top-tier head coach in Mike Vrabel, there is one more move they could make to put themselves in the conversation for best team in the NFL - trade for Myles Garrett.

Obviously, they can't do it in 2025, as the trade deadline has already come and gone, but Alex Kay of Bleacher Report names New England as one of the four teams that make the most sense to make the move for the All-World pass rusher.

"One of New England's more glaring issues this year has been an inability to limit opposing quarterbacks," Alex Kay writes. "The team has allowed 215.9 yards per game and given up 19 touchdowns through the air, numbers that a superstar pass-rusher like Garrett would instantly improve. It helps that the Patriots are well-positioned to splurge during the upcoming offseason. They dumped some salary and added more draft capital at the deadline, giving the club more flexibility to swing a big trade.

Kay also mentions that the Patriots have more than enough money to make it work, as they have over $60 million in cap space.

"With over $64 million in projected cap space for the 2026 campaign and 11 picks in the upcoming draft, the Pats can comfortably make a run at Garrett when the new league year begins," Kay writes.

Even at the age of 30, which Garrett will be before the season ends, he is still the best edge rusher in football. He's coming off a four-sack performance against the Baltimore Ravens, and looks like a shoe-in for 2025 Defensive Player of the Year. He will still garner a big haul, which is what the Cleveland Browns need right now.
