Bill Belichick has created quite a stir in recent weeks while promoting his new book "The Art of Winning: Lessons from My Life in Football." While very little of that stir had to do with the book itself, it officially hit shelves on Tuesday, and several lines quickly stood out to fans.
One involved Belichick weighing in on the greatest quarterback of all time debate, with many fans pegging the legendary coach's longtime quarterback, Tom Brady, against Kansas City Chiefs stud Patrick Mahomes. Belichick worked with Brady for 20 years, winning six Super Bowls during their time together.
Brady won another Super Bowl with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but his legacy is being hunted down by Mahomes, who already has three Super Bowl championships to his name at just 29 years old. Rather than throwing his weight behind Brady in this debate, though, Belichick weighed in with a "controversial" take.
“I’ve never engaged in this argument with my good friend Andy Reid, the Kansas City Chiefs’ head coach, but I have little doubt he will write his own book one day and claim that he had the greatest QB of all time,” Belichick wrote. “You know what? Brady and Patrick Mahomes are both really good. Controversial, I know.”
After Brady left the New England Patriots in 2020, Belichick coached the team for four more seasons before the two sides mutually agreed to part ways. He accepted the North Carolina Tar Heels head coaching gig back in December 2024, which will mark the first foray into college football of his career.
Brady played three seasons with the Buccaneers before retiring, and he has since joined Fox as an NFL color commentator. Mahomes is still going strong with the Chiefs, although he just missed a great opportunity to add another ring to his collection when he lost Super Bowl LIX to the Philadelphia Eagles.
