The Minnesota Vikings might have the secret recipe.
They seem to have a way of rehabilitating quarterbacks into stars, with Sam Darnold and Daniel Jones the two recent examples to learn under head coach Kevin O'Connell before going elsewhere and shining bright.
One writer for The Vikings Wire, known as Skol Cole, has an idea.
He wants the Vikings to cut J.J. McCarthy, then sign him back so O'Connell can revitalize his career after first acknowledging him as a "bust."
Here's what Cole posted on X:
1. Cut JJ McCarthy, officially declaring him a bust

2. Sign McCarthy, former draft bust, and have KOC fix him

Obviously, the Vikings aren't going to cut McCarthy.
But it's a funny way of looking at things, something on a galaxy brain level.
McCarthy missed his first season with injury, and he hasn't been great outside of a few quarters in year two, which has also been hampered by injuries, too.
There's plenty to still be figured out with McCarthy. Will O'Connell be the guy to figure him out, too?
Vikings fans sure hope so.
