The Minnesota Vikings might have a quarterback problem.

The Vikings' defense did a good job against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, yet Minnesota really never had a chance to win, because J.J. McCarthy was brutally bad.

The final stats for McCarthy included 87 passing yards and two interceptions.

It's a stat line so bad for a QB it hadn't been done since the miserable 2002 season for David Carr with the Texans.

That's not the company you want to keep. Carr was drafted to an expansion team that couldn't keep him upright.

McCarthy is part of a fantastic football team that simply needs to have a better QB.

He didn't play in his 2024 rookie season due to a knee injury, and he's missed a lot of this season with an ankle injury.

McCarthy likely has this job the rest of the way. With Carson Wentz out, it'd really only be a pivot to undrafted rookie Max Brosmer if McCarthy was benched.

But the former Michigan star isn't doing himself any favors as far as keeping the job in Minnesota long term.
