Vikings' Harrison Smith reveals what he's thinking about retirement image

Harrison Smith had a Christmas Day to remember.

The Minnesota Vikings' legendary safety capped an epic day for the Minnesota defense by jumping a pass from Jared Goff to snatch an interception.

It was the 39th career interception for the Vikings star.

Now 36 years old, though, there's at least some thought that Smith could be nearing the end of his career.

He's spent his entire NFL tenure with the Vikings, who chose him No. 29 overall in the 2012 NFL Draft out of Notre Dame.

After Thursday's game, Smith was asked if this could be it for him, with just the one regular season game remaining in Week 18.

“I can’t speak on that right now,” Smith said. “I’m a very much in the moment type of guy. I’m going to enjoy this with the guys I’ve gone to work with and enjoy my family and the holidays. That’ll handle itself when it does.”

Smith also had a sack of Jared Goff during the 23-10 Christmas win in which the Vikings' defense forced six turnovers.

It hasn't been the kind of season Minnesota wanted on the whole. But the Vikings will be able to look back on their defensive showing on Christmas with fondness, particularly for Smith.

If he has just one more week left in his NFL career, this was quite the way to put a bow on it.
