The Minnesota Vikings won't be going to the playoffs.
In a practical sense, that means they can begin to look toward potential offseason decisions.
One of those will involve defensive coordinator Brian Flores.
Flores has his contract up at the end of the season. The Vikings seem to want him back.
"The Vikings hope to work out a deal to retain him," NFL Network's Ian Rapoport wrote in a new article on Saturday.

Flores has done a great job with a Vikings defense that has often been put in rough spots by their offense this season.
Minnesota ranks ninth in the NFL in yards allowed, meaning they've allowed the ninth-fewest yards through Week 15.
The Vikings also have earned a stout reputation for their defense. Just this week, New York Giants rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart described the defense that Flores calls as, "just chaos, chaos."
Flores has been a head coach in the past, and his strong reputation as a defensive mind would have other teams interested in him in various capacities if he didn't want to return to the Vikings.
There hasn't been any indication that Flores is looking to leave, but offseason coaching markets move quickly and in unexpected directions, including at the coordinator spots.
The Vikings certainly seem like they'd benefit from keeping Flores around, so that'll likely be a strong priority for them.
