The Minnesota Vikings brought in Jordan Mason this offseason to lighten the load on running back Aaron Jones Sr.
That didn't stop Jones from getting injured on Sunday Night Football against the Atlanta Falcons.
Jones was hurt in the fourth quarter, and his return was ruled as questionable by the Falcons.
Aaron Jones injury update
Jones hurt his hamstring.
The NFL posted that Jones was questionable to return in a news blurb at 10:45 p.m. ET, about halfway through the gameclock of the fourth quarter.
The Vikings were down nine points at the time of the injury announcement, and the Falcons had the ball.
That made it seem unlikely that Minnesota could come back, anyway. And after the Falcons scored another TD, Jones was shown on the sideline walking around without a helmet.
If Jones is forced to miss time, Mason will get even more action.
The former 49ers RB already saw more carries than Jones in Week 1, albeit fewer snaps.
Now, Mason would possibly become an every-down running back.
The Vikings will hope that Jones' injury isn't too bad.
