Quinn Ewers is starting in the NFL as a rookie.
It's Week 16, and the QB from the University of Texas is getting the call for the Miami Dolphins against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Ewers takes over for Tua Tagovailoa, and he leapfrogged backup Zach Wilson on the depth chart to do so.

Why is Quinn Ewers starting QB for the Dolphins?
The Dolphins decided they wanted a look at the guy they had the least tape on.
Tagovailoa, of course, is well-known by Miami's whole organization.
Wilson has started games in the NFL and is a more well-traveled backup. He's not a mystery.
Ewers is the only guy here whose future evaluation is still up in the air. He was expected to go at least a bit earlier in the draft but fell to the seventh round.
He isn't loaded up with high-end physical tools, but Ewers has won a lot of football games and earned a lot of praise throughout his career. There's a non-zero chance he proves he belongs in the NFL with these starts.
Maybe Ewers is never a full-time starter, but even if Miami learns it can trust him as a backup QB going forward, that's a big development.
It's certainly worth it for the Dolphins to see what they have in Ewers.
