The Miami Dolphins are coming off a tough 2025 season, and with Chris Grier and Mike McDaniel gone, the new leadership will have a lot on their hands this offseason.
While new head coach Jeff Hafley will have a lot of say in the roster, general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan will be the leader when it comes to roster moves this offseason.
At the press conference introducing the duo to reporters, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN shared a response from Sullivan on the future of Tua Tagovailoa in Miami. Sullivan was very candid and expressed he wasn't sure of what's in store for Tagovailoa this offseason.
Future of Tua Tagovailoa in Miami uncertain amid new GM's comments
"I have a lot of respect for Tua," Sullivan said. "Whether it's Tua or anyone else, it's unfair for me to sit up here and talk about anything until I've been able to talk to the player himself. To sit up here today and tell you I have a great understanding of what we're going to do - that would be a lie."
This comment from Sullivan is a very candid one, but it's also a refreshing one for Dolphins fans. Hearing the GM showing a willingness to listen and adapt is a nice change from the Grier years in Miami.
Deciding what to do with Tagovailoa will be the Dolphins' toughest decision this offseason. On one hand, cutting him would ensure some relief in the future, but it's not good for the short-term.

A trade might be possible, but finding the right team willing to move on from assets to acquire Tagovailoa and his expensive contract will be nigh impossible.
But Sullivan isn't ready to commit one way or another. He's planning to evaluate everything, and that includes reaching out to Tagovailoa himself.
This same philosophy will be used for other players on the roster who have uncertain futures, as Tyreek Hill and potentially Jaylen Waddle might get meetings with Sullivan to get a better idea of their futures with the team.
But, for now, nothing is certain with Tagovailoa or any player on the roster. IT's a long offseason, and Sullivan isn't planning to rush things.
