The Miami Dolphins and general manager Chris Grier have agreed to part ways and that has led many to believe that head coach Mike McDaniel won't be far behind.

The writing was on the wall for Grier all season long as the Dolphins have stumbled through the 2025 campaign thus far en route to a 2-7 record.

A lot of blame goes on McDaniel's shoulders, also, with so many problems in the locker room and just an overall putrid showing from the team this season.

While Dolphins fans want McDaniel gone, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the embattled head coach will remain in his job "at least" through the rest of this season, which hints that McDaniel will remain the head coach in 2026.

"Chris Grier is out as Miami Dolphins general manager the team announced Friday, but head coach Mike McDaniel will keep his position through at least the regular season, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter," ESPN's Marcel Louis-Jacques said.

This isn't the first time the door has been kicked open for McDaniel to keep his job against all odds.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport previously reported that owner Stephen Ross "likes and believes" in McDaniel, which suggests he might not be in as much trouble as we all assumed.

Rapoport went on to add that, ultimately, McDaniel will be judged by how his players respond and the overall temperature in the locker room.

While the Dolphins' performance this season would seem to suggest McDaniel has lost the locker room, he has said "his message is still getting through to players, and multiple players in the locker room have said the team hasn't quit on its coach," Louis-Jacques wrote in the aforementioned ESPN article.

With how much things have gone off the rails for the Dolphins the past two years, it only makes sense to part ways with McDaniel. Then again, with how the Dolphins have operated over the years, it wouldn't be shocking if they don't.
