The Miami Dolphins are 1-5, and barrelling towards a top draft pick.
Head coach Mike McDaniel, long rumored to be on the hot seat, is doing his best to hold his team together amid a brutal start.
Naturally, with a record like that, trade buzz will start circulating about the team. But McDaniel did not want to hear it during his most recent media availability.
Mike McDaniel goes off on trade rumors
The Dolphins' head coach was asked about trade rumors and fired back at the press.
"All (trade) rumors about Miami Dolphins players are baseless, currently. And that’s unfortunate," McDaniel said via Cameron Wolfe.
"Personally, this time of year bothers me for the sake of individual players having where he’s playing questioned by rumors."
Clearly, McDaniel is doing his best to maintain high morale among his 1-5 team.
The fact of the matter is, though, this Miami roster just has too many holes not to consider trading players for future draft picks.
Two players named by ESPN's Adam Schefter as names to watch in the trade market include pass rushers Bradley Chubb and Jaelan Phillips.
Wide receiver Jaylen Waddle has also been reported as a hot name other teams would be interested in.
Whether it's general manager Chris Grier making those decisions down the road or a new decision maker, it's in the Dolphins' best future interest.
With the trade deadline just a few weeks away, it will be interesting to watch how Miami handles its players on expiring contracts.
