The Miami Dolphins entered Monday Night Football against the Pittsburgh Steelers with a four-game win streak, riding the momentum of strong performances from star running back De'Von Achane.
However, after a low-scoring first half, it was Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers who came out hot in the second half, despite the frigid Pittsburgh weather.
The Steelers scored two touchdowns in the third quarter, on passes to Marquez Valdes-Scantling and DK Metcalf, giving Pittsburgh a 21-3 lead into the final frame. It was then that Tua Tagovailoa and the Dolphins' offense started to come alive. Tagovailoa connected with tight end Darren Waller for two scores of their own.
But with former Dolphin now Steeler Jonnu Smith scoring on a rushing touchdown to begin the fourth, it was ultimately too little, too late for the Dolphins as the Steelers won comfortably 28-15.
The loss dropped Miami to 6-8, officially eliminating them from playoff contention.
Additionally, the loss marked another unfortunate record for Tagovailoa as the quarterback is now 0-7 in temperatures of 40 degrees or colder.
In the final minutes of the game, after the Steelers stopped Miami from scoring a two-point conversion attempt, former Dolphin Jalen Rams ey was caught on a hot mic trash-talking his former teammate.
"He weak as f—," Ramsey said directly to the camera.
With the playoffs now out of reach, the Dolphins will finish their season with two straight home games against the Bengals and Buccaneers before traveling to New England for their regular-season finale against the Patriots.
