Ex-Dolphins quarterback says 'consistency' is team's biggest problem image

The Miami Dolphins entered 2025 with high expectations, marking what was essentially a do-or-die season for general manager Chris Grier and head coach Mike McDaniel.

10 games in, the Dolphins are 3-7 and Grier has already been shown the door.

Quarterback play has certainly been a factor, with Tua Tagovailoa leading the league in interceptions with 13, but what other problems have plagued Miami?

Ryan Tannehill says 'consistency' has plagued Dolphins in 2025

In an exclusive interview with Forbes' DJ Siddiqi, former Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill believes the team has struggled to remain consistent throughout the 2025 season.

"It seems to be a few different things. It’s consistency I think is huge. You play in a tough league and if you’re not playing the best football each and every week, then it’s going to be hard to come up with a win. You got to be consistent and make big plays when it counts," Tannehill told Siddiqi.

"I’m not sure what their injury list has been this year, and what that looks like. But it’s a tough league to win in and if you don’t go out and play good football week in and week out, it’s gonna be hard to come away with wins."

After last week's upset victory over the Buffalo Bills, Miami will hope to stay consistent in its performance on Sunday in Europe, when they take on the Washington Commanders in Madrid, Spain.

Tannehill himself is in Europe, according to Siddiqi, partnered with USAA to host a flag football event for US troops stationed in Rota, Spain, ahead of the NFL's first-ever game in the country.
