The Miami Dolphins have had a rollercoaster of a 2025 season, filled with streaks of both the winning and losing variety.

Not every player has lived up to preseason expectations, but starting linebacker and defensive captain Jordyn Brooks has been as consistently good as he can be over his two-year Dolphins career and is eligible for a contract extension.

With one more year remaining on his current deal, should Miami prioritize giving the former Seattle Seahawk a new deal?

Dolphins urged by beat writer to give Jordyn Brooks an extension

According to ESPN's Dolphins writer Marcel Louis-Jacques, Miami absolutely should.

"There are a few qualified Dolphins players here, including running back De'Von Achane and center Aaron Brewer, but we'll look at Brooks. He has led the team in tackles in each of his first two seasons and has been Miami's most consistent player on either side of the ball this season," wrote Louis-Jacques.

"At 28, he has missed only two games since his rookie season and is a bona fide leader in the Dolphins' locker room. Brooks has one year remaining on his deal, but extending him should be a no-brainer."

A former first-round pick in 2020 by the Seahawks, Brooks signed a three-year deal with Miami during the 2024 offseason.

Since then, he's racked up a whopping 298 tackles in 31 games, including seven passes defended and three fumble recoveries.

Brooks' emergence as a cornerstone of the Dolphins' defense warrants consideration for a new deal, and he's a player Miami should want influencing their young players on the roster for years to come.
