Tua Tagovailoa has heard plenty of criticism this season as the Miami Dolphins quarterback.

That includes from former NFL superstar Cam Newton.

On Thursday, Tagovailoa spoke in his media availability about recent negative comments from Newton.

And normally, it might make sense for a QB to say what Tua said about an analyst. But in this case, maybe not so much.

"I want to see anybody on the streets come play QB. Cam Newton is doing his thing in media but it's easier to be able to hold a clicker and talk about it," Tagovailoa said.

Newton isn't exactly just some guy off the street.

Sure, he's older now and has been out of the league, so he maybe isn't equipped to play quarterback at this exact moment.

But Newton, for a time, was one of the best players on the planet. He certainly ranked higher on the NFL's QB rankings lists at his peak than Tua has during his career.

Tagovailoa has been remarkably open and honest in his press conferences this season so far. A week ago, he spoke about all the talents Josh Allen has that he doesn't have. Tua isn't hiding from the criticism or the realities of the difficult spot the Dolphins find themselves in.

But maybe think just a second about who you're talking about before you put them down. Because Newton was one of the best, so hating on him doesn't make a lot of sense.
