The Miami Dolphins can't be exactly sure how long they'll have a healthy Tua Tagovailoa.
His head injury concerns have dominated the narrative for the past couple seasons. Some have even called for him to retire.
Tagovailoa has pushed back on that narrative, but the Dolphins weren't going through the entire 2025 NFL Draft without taking a quarterback, just in case.
They got their guy in the seventh round with the selection of Quinn Ewers out of Texas.
Ewers was a top-ranked recruit who enrolled early at Ohio State but didn't stay there. He returned to his home-state Longhorns and was a star.
In 2024, he led Texas to the No. 1 seed in the College Football Playoff.

This past season, Ewers completed 65.8 percent of his passes for 3,472 yards and 31 TDs. He did throw a concerning 12 interceptions.
Ewers doesn't have great downfield arm strength, but he moves well and won a lot of college games.
The Dolphins' hope will be that Ewers never has to play a regular season game for them.
But with Tagovailoa, that's just not realistic.
Miami will try to get Ewers up to speed as fast as possible so that if they need him, he's ready.
At least right now, the Dolphins still have Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. That's a top-tier receiving corps.
If Ewers has to play, he'll have weapons. It's up to him to be ready, just in case.
